If you were checking your Powerball tickets this morning hoping for a life-changing payday, you’re not alone. Saturday night’s drawing for the estimated $1 billion jackpot came and went without a grand prize winner. That means the pot has officially swelled to a staggering $1.1 billion for Monday night, making it the sixth-largest prize in the game’s history. While no one hit all the numbers, several New Jersey lottery players had a very profitable night indeed.
The Winning Powerball Numbers
For the drawing held on Saturday, December 13th, the official winning lottery numbers were:
White Balls: 1, 28, 31, 57, 58
Powerball: 16
Power Play Multiplier: 2X
New Jersey’s Big Winners
Even without a jackpot winner, the night created one new millionaire and several other significant wins across the state.
A single second-prize ticket, worth $1 million, was sold in New Jersey. To win this prize, a ticket must match all five white numbers but miss the red Powerball. This lucky slip was purchased at the Sunoco of Morristown located at 299 East Hanover Ave.
Beyond the million-dollar ticket, five other players in the state each won a $50,000 prize. They did this by matching four of the white balls plus the Powerball number. One of these tickets was bought digitally via the Jackpocket app. The other four were sold at the following retailers:
- Food Village, 247 Midland Avenue, Garfield (Bergen County)
- Main Line Deli, 606 Shiloh Pike, Bridgeton (Cumberland County)
- Wawa, 250 Route 70 West, Marlton (Burlington County)
- 7-Eleven, 521 West Kings Highway, Mount Ephraim (Camden County)
The $1.1 Billion Jackpot Breakdown
All eyes are now on Monday night’s drawing. The advertised $1.1 billion annuity is the amount paid out over 29 years. Most winners, however, opt for the cash lump sum, which for this drawing is estimated at $503.4 million.
This massive jackpot run started back in early September after two players—one in Missouri and one in Texas—split a historic $1.8 billion Powerball jackpot. The top prize has been growing ever since.
Here’s a quick look at where this potential prize ranks among the all-time biggest:
| Rank | Jackpot Amount | Date Won |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | $2.04 Billion | Nov. 7, 2022 |
| 2 | $1.8 Billion | Sept. 6, 2025 |
| 3 | $1.765 Billion | Oct. 11, 2023 |
| 4 | $1.586 Billion | Jan. 13, 2016 |
| 5 | $1.326 Billion | July 19, 2024 |
| 6 | $1.1 Billion (Estimated) | Next Drawing |
What You Need to Know for the Next Drawing
The next shot at this colossal fortune is Monday, December 15th. Drawings are held at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time. Tickets typically stop being sold about an hour before the draw in most states, so it’s best not to wait until the last minute.
Remember, all prizes are set amounts except the jackpot, which is determined by sales and interest rates. The Power Play multiplier—which was 2X for Saturday’s draw—can multiply non-jackpot winnings by 2, 3, 4, 5, or even 10 times. It’s a small add-on cost that can make a good win truly great.
While the dream is to match all six numbers, the odds of any single ticket doing that are about 1 in 292.2 million. The odds of winning any prize, however, are a much friendlier 1 in 24.9. So, even if you don’t become an instant billionaire, you’ve still got a decent shot at walking away with something.
