Walee Technologies has purchased the former Multan franchise in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for a record Rs2.45 billion, confirming the team will be rebranded as Rawalpindi ahead of the upcoming PSL 11 season.
The high-profile franchise auction took place at Lahore’s Expo Centre, marking a historic moment as franchise valuations soared under the league’s revised ownership model. The auction opened at 6:35 pm with a base price of Rs1.82 billion set by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
An intense bidding battle followed, with Walee Technologies, CD Ventures, and Particle Igniter competing aggressively. Walee initially bid Rs1.9 billion and, after a prolonged contest, secured the franchise with a decisive offer of Rs2.45 billion—the highest price ever paid for a PSL team.
The PCB had confirmed five qualified bidders for the Multan franchise: Walee Technologies, Aim Next Inc, Deharki Sugar Mills, Particle Igniter, and CD Ventures. Former owner Ali Tareen’s Deharki Sugar Mills did not place any bids, signaling a full exit from the team.
The rebranding marks the end of Multan’s association with the PSL. Walee Technologies will now focus on squad planning and commercial activities for Rawalpindi, with the official unveiling expected in the coming weeks ahead of PSL 11.
📌 Looking Ahead:
The new auction-based structure of PSL 11 is set to transform team strategies, with Rawalpindi emerging as a major contender under its new ownership.
