Pakistan Strongly Rejects Taliban’s Claims of Cross-Border Airstrikes

Rawalpindi, November 25, 2025 – The Pakistan military has firmly denied accusations from the Afghan Taliban that Pakistani forces carried out airstrikes inside Afghanistan overnight.

Speaking to the media today, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry dismissed the allegations as “completely baseless” and reiterated that Pakistan has never attacked Afghanistan.

“We are a responsible state. Whenever we conduct any operation, we do it openly and we never target civilians,” he said, adding that Pakistan strictly follows the principles of a sovereign country in all its responses.

The strong reaction came after Afghan Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid claimed that Pakistani drones and aircraft struck parts of Khost, Kunar, and Paktika provinces, killing at least 10 people. Local officials in Khost also alleged the attacks were carried out by drones and fighter jets.

Lt Gen Chaudhry made it clear that Pakistan has no hostility toward the people of Afghanistan and is only fighting terrorism. “There are no good terrorists or bad terrorists for us — a terrorist is a terrorist,” he stressed.

He urged the Afghan interim government to act like a proper state instead of a non-state actor and questioned how long it would continue to call itself an “interim” administration.

The ISPR chief also called for an immediate countrywide ban on non-custom-paid (smuggled) vehicles, saying many recent terrorist attacks in Pakistan were carried out using such vehicles.

Pakistan maintains that terrorist groups hiding inside Afghanistan continue to launch attacks on its soil, while the Taliban insist they do not allow their territory to be used against any neighbour.

The exchange of statements has once again highlighted the growing tensions between Islamabad and Kabul over border security and counter-terrorism efforts.
