Petrol Price in Pakistan Increased – New Fuel Prices Announced on 7 March 2026

Islamabad: The federal government has announced a major increase in petroleum prices across Pakistan, with the new rates taking effect from 7 March 2026. The price of petrol has been raised significantly, adding further pressure on consumers already facing rising living costs.

New Petrol Price in Pakistan – According to 7 March 2026

According to the latest notification issued after a review of global oil market trends, the price of petrol has been increased by Rs 55 per litre, bringing the new price to Rs 321.17 per litre. At the same time, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has also been increased by Rs 55 per litre, setting the new diesel price at Rs 335.86 per litre.

The government revises petroleum prices periodically based on recommendations from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and fluctuations in international oil prices. Officials stated that the latest hike reflects rising crude oil prices in global markets as well as increased import costs for petroleum products.

With the new adjustment, petrol prices across Pakistan — including major cities such as Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Faisalabad — will remain the same nationwide because petroleum products are sold at uniform rates.

Economists warn that the increase in petrol and diesel prices may lead to further inflation in the country. Transportation costs, food prices, and the overall cost of goods often rise after fuel price hikes because fuel is a key component in supply and logistics.

Many citizens expressed concern over the sudden rise in fuel prices, saying it will affect daily commuting and increase expenses for businesses and households alike.

Pakistan imports a large portion of its petroleum needs, making local fuel prices highly sensitive to global oil price movements and currency exchange rates. When international oil prices increase or the Pakistani rupee weakens against the US dollar, fuel prices in the country typically rise as well.

The government is expected to review petroleum prices again in the coming days depending on international market trends. Any further change will be announced through an official notification.

Consumers and businesses across the country are now closely monitoring the situation as higher fuel prices are likely to have a broad impact on Pakistan’s economy.
